Education is the cornerstone of our future, and we must ensure that our children have access to quality education and quality teachers. Providing a quality education for our students — and the resources our schools need to teach them — is one of the most important jobs a legislator in Columbia has.
Taking action on this issue
- Fought to raise the starting pay for public school teachers in South Carolina to $47,000. In 2017, that number was just over $30,000.
- Supported legislation that would allow for Education Savings Accounts and School Choice, so that our children can attend the school that best addresses their needs.
- Championed legislation that would freeze college tuition rates at our state colleges and universities, pushing to make a college education
- I’ll continue to fight to raise teacher pay, and increase accessibility to quality education, from early childhood through our colleges and universities. Higher educational attainment leads to better outcomes for everyone in our community.
