To My District 24 Neighbors:
We’ve wrapped up work in the General Assembly, with only the state budget waiting the final vote in the next week or so.
From protecting children and supporting law enforcement to improving schools, fixing roads, and cutting red tape, my House Republican colleagues finished our 2026 session very strong and delivered on the promise we made to South Carolina back in the fall.
Here are a few major bills recently signed into law by Governor McMaster:
- SCDOT Modernization — Speeds up road projects, reduces congestion, cuts government red tape, and modernizes transportation planning across South Carolina. This is major legislation that my colleagues worked on for most of last year. We hope this addresses what most people say is the biggest challenge we all face — our roads.
- Stop Harm from Addictive Social Media Act — Protects children through stronger parental controls and restrictions on addictive social media features targeting minors.
- Pregnancy Care Tax Credit Act — Encourages support for pregnancy resource centers, maternity homes, and organizations helping mothers and families across South Carolina.
- Sexual Exploitation of a Minor Penalty Increase — Increases penalties and strengthens consequences for repeat child exploitation offenders while closing legal loopholes.
- Disclosure of Intimate Images — Strengthens protections for victims of revenge porn and AI-generated explicit image abuse by increasing criminal penalties and holding offenders accountable.
- Truth in Grading Act — Restores accountability in schools by ensuring grades reflect actual student performance and classroom achievement.
- AI Child Abuse Protections — Makes AI-generated child sexual abuse material illegal and gives law enforcement stronger tools to crack down on predators.
- Fargo’s Law — Increases penalties for harming police K9s and horses that serve alongside law enforcement officers in the line of duty.
- Roadside Markets Bill — Reduces burdensome regulations on local farmers and makes it easier to sell fresh South Carolina-grown products.
- Street Takeover Crackdown — Gives law enforcement stronger tools to stop dangerous street takeovers and keep our roads and communities safe.
- Veterans Homes Expansion — Cuts red tape so veterans homes can expand more quickly and improve access to care for those who served our country.
Promises Made. Promises Kept.
The final few weeks are always incredibly busy. The House worked late into the night multiple times to deliver on the promises we made. This legislative session, we fought for families and a more affordable South Carolina, passing major conservative legislation that lowered taxes, improved public safety, fixed our roads, strengthened our schools, and grew the economy.
All of this in addition to advancing a responsible, balanced budget that provides over $1 billion in tax relief, while still investing in critical infrastructure. We hope to finalize the budget later in June, and my staff and I are hard at work on the finishing touches.
Sine Die
The General Assembly has now adjourned sine die, officially concluding the regular legislative session for the year. We will return later in June for a final debate on the state budget and consider any vetoes of legislation from Governor McMaster.
As a part-time legislature, we spend part of the year in Columbia working on legislation and representing the people of South Carolina. The remainder of the year is spent back home in our communities meeting with constituents, local businesses, schools, and organizations across the district. I look forward to spending more time back in Greenville, hearing directly from you, campaigning, and continuing to represent you on the issues that you tell me matter most to our neighborhoods.
